このwoodsは、『赤ずきん』が代表する「怖いところ」。プラス用法で

He’s finally out of the woods.　ついに回復という意味でfinallyがよく一緒に。

映画化もされているブロードウェイミュージカルInto the Woods『イントゥ・ザ・ウッズ』は、out of the woodsをひっくり返した言葉遊びで、「森の中へ」つまり、怖いことが待っているかも、という響き在り。

????　通常woodsは、this woodsと単数扱いでなく、these woodsと複数扱いにされる。たとえばロバート・フロストのStopping by Woods on a Snowy Eveningの出だし

Whose woods these are I think I know.   
His house is in the village though;
