禅はZenとして英語圏に広まり、笑いの分野にまで進出を果たすほど知られています。大変有名なZenジョークです。
　ある禅師がＮＹ市を訪れ、道ばたでホットドッグ売りに「全部入れたものを」と頼む。できたものを受け取り、２０ドル札を渡すと、ホットドッグ売りはそれをキャッシュボックスに入れて蓋を閉める。禅師は「私のおつり（change）はどこに？」と尋ねると、さてどんな答えが返ってくるか？　という作品です。

　A Zen master visiting New York City goes up to a hot dog vendor and says, “Make me one with everything.”
　The hot dog vendor fixes a hot dog and hands it to the Zen master, who pays with a $20 bill.
　The vendor puts the bill in the cash box and closes it.
The Zen master asks, “Excuse me, but where’s my change?”
　The vendor responds, “Change must come from within.“
