英語に直訳して： double-goerとも、時に半独半英でdoublegangerとも言う。
よくＳＦやミステリー小説に現れることがある「そっくりな他人」は、unrelated look-alikeなどと言われますが、The New York Timesでは、その実例が、当然のことながら、写真入りで紹介されていました。
out thereは「外のあのあたり」、「あの世界・分野」、「あそこ」といった意味で、It’s a jungle out there!というよく知られた言い回しには、「外・あそこは弱肉強食の世界」「世は無情」「あそこはルールなんてありません」などなど、密林が気を悪くするような意味で使われます。
これらの写真は「ミスター・ビーン」の俳優とのlook-alikeである写真家ブラネルさんがが作った”doppelgängerたちの写真集I’m Not a Look-alike!シリーズからＮＹＴが借用したものということです。
