前項で取り上げた「十人十色」「蓼喰う虫も好き好き」の英語版は

　Each to their own.　
　To each their own.

と、英版と米版があり、通常ぼくは２番目を使っていますが、英版が出ました。それぞれの意味合いは例えば

　Each to their own.　⇒　Each (person is entitled) to their own (choice/opinion).
　To each their own. ⇒　To each (person is allowed) their own (choice/opinion).

となるでしょう。

なお、each をtheirで受けるのは、いちいちhis or herと言うより楽なためで、単数のthey、singular theyと呼ばれる話し方ですね。
それと、これらの英語版は長さからみて「十人十色」と呼応しそう。
より尺のある「蓼食う･･･」は、There’s no accounting for taste.に近そう。
