Riki君が電話で話したいというので出てみると、ゆっくりHow are you?と尋ねてきた。お初、That’s a first!、である。母親の指示があったのだろう。笑顔も抑揚もない挨拶で、やや怖いが、being politeを意識してのことだろう。立派。と、彼女がRiki wants to see your garden.と言うので出て、
　　These are lilies, they’re coming out.ー Why are they coming out? ー Now it’s spring here.
　　This purple flower is called a dayflower.ー Why? ー Because it’s open during the day.ー Why?
　　These are … a kind of violets. (日本ではサンシキスミレをパンジーとも呼ぶが、英語では俗語で他の意味もあるので。と、案の定、質問が来た）ー What kind of violets? ー Uh, tricolor violets.
　Why?だらけである。向こうでその連射を受けたが、戻ってもなお続くとは。これからタイトルのようなやり取りも無きにしも非ずかも。
　で、ホームステイ中に作った自製（だといいな）の拙警句。Here’s my humble little quip I came up with during the stay.
